The Tayo Na program is concluded. This page serves as an archive.

What is Tayo Na?
Tayo Na is a free, online leadership program for Filipino youth. It will be held online on Tuesdays at 4-6pm starting on October 20, 2020 and ending on December 8, 2020. There will be a total of eight sessions.

We got our name from the Tagalog expression that has dual meaning: “let’s go” or "it's our turn," and “stand up.” Tayo Na is a program that aims to empower Filipino youth to become leaders in their communities.

Who's behind Tayo Na?
Tayo Na is a collaborative project between Kamalayan Konsciousness and SEAS Centre.

Kamalayan Konsciousness is a Filipino youth collective hosting workshops and events exploring Philippine history, culture, and current events to encourage awareness and self-expression as a foundation for youth empowerment.

SEAS Centre is a non-profit social service agency promoting well-being, family harmony, and community involvement in the Greater Toronto Area. Follow SEAS Centre’s other programs for the Filipino community!

Filipino youth with a range of skills--from leadership to the arts--will facilitate the workshops.

What will I learn?
Our goal is to build confidence, impart leadership skills, and inspire Filipino youth to create social change, all while connecting to our roots. Activities will include exploration of community issues; workshops on things like communications, civic engagement, and goal-setting; and even discussions on Philippine history, culture, and current events.

Who can join?
Filipino youth aged 13 - 25 years based in the Greater Toronto Area can join the program. No previous leadership experience is required--an interest in learning and working in a group will help!

Is there a cost?
The program is completely free, provided by SEAS Centre. You will need access to the internet and a computer with a working microphone and webcam to participate.

Wait, will the workshops be in Filipino or English?
The workshops may be given primarily in English, depending on the abilities of the facilitator. We will happily accommodate participants who are more comfortable with Philippine languages. We encourage all youth, regardless of language ability, to join the program.

Hold up--I still have more questions!!!
